SPARKLY HONEY BEES

Welcome back! Sometimes when a new catalog comes out we get so excited about the new products (which are great!!!), we tend to forget about the old workhorses in our arsenal of crafting goodness. Remember  Champagne Mist?

This product was perfect for adding a gold glimmery effect on my card. I used a blender pen and dipped it into the bottle of Champagne Mist, then colored the intended element. As you can see in the picture below, I used the Champagne Mist on the edge of the sentiment and for the stripes on the bee.

The Champagne Mist gives the card just a subtle hint of glimmer, and I loved it! This product is versatile and can be added to a spritzer bottle with re-inkers, it can be sponged on and you could add a couple of drops to your embossing paste!!!

I have enjoyed working with this Honey Bee Stamp set these last few weeks and I might have a couple of more project ideas floating around in my head. Now don’t forget, when you place your next order to add the Champagne Mist, you won’t be sorry.

Happy Stamping!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE SHIMMERY CRYSTAL EFFECTS!

If you have never used Crystal Effects, do yourself a favor and order some (#150892 $5.00). For such a small price point, it adds such a dramatic flair to your projects!

I stamped the poppy images along the bottom edge, then flipped the paper around and stamped them 3″ from the bottom edge of the cardstock, so the poppies are facing away from the center of the DSP. Once that was done I used the Shimmery Crystal Effects to “color” the poppies. Make sure you let this dry completely before you glue down the DSP. You don’t want to mess up your beautiful project.

You can really see the dramatic effect you get on this card by using the Crystal Effects! Another fun stamp set to use the CE on is Under My Umbrella. Raindrops!!!

In my instructions, I explain how I made my sentiment tag shorter to fit this card. Use the link below to print out the full instructions, and remember you are able to click on the pictures below and add the Crystal Effects directly to your cart.

Until next time.

Happy Stamping!

A BRIGHT A CHEERY CARD USING UNDER MY UMBRELLA

You may not realize it, but living in Napa, we wake up to quite a few gray and damp mornings. And on those mornings it looks and feels like I should be wearing my rainboots. I made this card bright a cheery card to combat those dreary winter blues that come on after to many gray misty mornings. I am definitely a blue sky kind of girl!

Can you see the fabulous striped DSP in the background? It is the new Pleased As Punch DSP that Stampin’ Up! just released Tuesday. I just love it, don’t you?

After I stamped the rainboots onto my 1 ¾” Whisper White cardstock, I used stampin Blends to color them in. I use the darker shade of Blends on the outer edge, then use the lighter shade in the middle of the image and then to soften the harsh edge of the darker shade. I used the light Smokey Slate to add shading to the bottom of the rainboots.

I bet you want to know how I stamped the raindrops without getting them on the rainboots? I stamped the rainboot image onto post-it notes and cut them out. I then placed the post-it notes rainboots over the colored images and stamped away. Now I have bright beautiful rainboots and the raindrops help highlight them.

Thanks for stopping by today and see you soon.

ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL CARD USING THE FUN THOUGHTFUL BLOOMS SAB STAMP SET.

I like to make my DSP if Stampin’ Up! doesn’t have one in the colors I want to use as I did on the card. I wanted to use Daffodil Delight as my base color and all the DSP I was contemplating utilized Crushed Curry, so I made mine. I used the images from the Thoughtful Blooms stamp set that is available right now as a free item in the SAB catalog for a $50 order.

I stamped the images using Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Melon Mambo and the beautiful Gorgeous Grape inks. I started by stamping the Daffodil Delight flowers, then stamped the leaves to see where I needed to fill in with some of the smaller flowers. Once I completed my DSP I attached a Melon Mabo piece I cut out using the Ornate Frames Dies, isn’t it lovely?

It might be hard to see in these pictures, but I used the Layered Leaves 3D Embossing Folder to add a little dimension to the Daffodil Delight layers. That was just the missing piece to finish the card. What do you think, beautiful, right?

Remember, you can have this Thoughtful Blooms stamp set for free with a $50 order. Click on the link at the top of this page to place your order today.

PAINTED POPPIES HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARD

Hello my fellow crafters, and welcome back. In this card, I was working with the ever beautiful Peaceful Poppies Suite. I call this style, #simple-ishstamping, since I used dimensionals and ribbon.  For those of you who may not have heard of the Stampin’ Up!’s #simplestamping campaign, it is one of the ways we focus on new crafters and show them that cardmaking can be as easy—and fun—as they make it! Usually, the cards are only using paper, ink & stamps, which is why I call mine simple-ish stamping.

As I was typing up this blog post, I realized that this card used all DSP as well, except for the cardbase. The poppy isn’t stamped on Whisper White, it is stamped onto the center strip from the DSP sheet that has the big poppies on the bottom and top edges (see picture below for a better look).

I stamped the poppy image in Tuxedo Black Ink, then colored the image using Poppy Parade and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. I then stamped the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss Ink, but you really can’t tell, so you can use black if you don’t have Blackberry Bliss. That is what is great about crafting if you don’t like a part of the project, then you can substitute another product that suits your tastes.

Until next time,

Happy Crafting!
