I LOVE OPTIONS

I love options, don’t you? I have another beautiful card for you today that uses the BEAUTIFUL Best Dressed DSP from Stampin’ Up! Boy, if you haven’t ordered this DSP yet, stop what you are doing and grab some before it is gone. I have made some of the most beautiful projects with this DSP, like this Blackberry Bliss card below. This card is one of my most popular cards on Pinterest! I have been wondering if the card is popular because of the colors I used, or is it just a super-duper cute card? I made another card using the Petal Pink version of the DSP so that I could compare them.

For the card on the upper left, Petal Pink cardstock, Petal Pink DSP, Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon, Whisper White Metallic Edge Ribbon, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, and Petal Pink ink were used. The card on the lower right was made with Blackberry Bliss cardstock, Blackberry Bliss DSP, Whisper White Metallic Edge Ribbon, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Highland Heather Stampin’ Write Marker, and Blackberry Bliss ink.

I love the softer look of this Petal Pink version of the card, but the Blackberry Bliss card is also striking. So now it is your turn. Which color combo do you like better, Petal Pink or Blackberry Bliss? Leave your comment below with your favorite color. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Happy Stamping!

SENDING LOVE AND SUPPORT

Hello, my beautiful friends. I hope this Tuesday morning is a glorious one where you call home, here in Napa, it is going to be a lovely 81°, perfect weather to enjoy nature.  I love springtime, well I guess everything except the allergies, the flowers are blooming, the bees are pollinating everything, and the birds are chirping. The DSP pack from the Bird Ballad Suite is the ideal paper for springtime projects, the colors are scrumptious, and the line drawings remind me of sketches we did in art classes. For this card, I paired up the Share Sunshine COVID-19 giveback PDF download, Bird Ballad DSP, and Petal Pink ribbon, and it was a beautiful combination, don’t you think?

ShareSunshine_SendingLove_BirdBallad_LoriSkinner

I started with a card base of Crumb Cake, which is my go-to color of choice; it is a versatile color that blends with most other colors perfectly! To the Crumb Cake cardbase, I added another Crumb Cake layer 4″ x 5 1/4″), then the DSP (3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″). To that, I added the Petal Pink DSP strip (1 1/4″ x 4 1/4″) and the sentiment that I punch out using Label Me Fancy punch and add a Petal Pink bow to finish it off the card. Super fast and simple project.

MY WONDERFUL FAMILY

Welcome back to my little crafting sanity keeper. I am sure you all are like me and the hubby, we have to be inventive on how to keep our stay at homing and social distancing from making us run screaming into the wild world. We are fortunate enough to be working from home, but when we need a break, we have a beautiful backyard full of trees with the peaceful sound of the trickling creek that runs behind the house that we can escape to. And if we get bored with the view in the backyard, we can go out and sit in our front courtyard and watch the bees and hummingbirds go from plant to plant pollinating to the world. Don’t you love honey bees, nature at it’s finest!

Now onto the April Paper Pumpkin Kit (PPK) – My Wonderful Family. When I was unboxing my PPK, the first thing I noticed was the die-cut that has this saying on it “Life’s greatest blessings begin and end with family. It is in families that we learn to love, teach what is most important, and grow together in love and laughter. Grateful for you. Happy to be yours.” That brought tears to my eyes. What a perfect sentiment to show our family or friends how much they mean to us. I know it has been very hard on everyone not to hug your parents, grandparent, aunts & uncles, and for me, everyone since I am a hugger. Sending someone you love a card with this saying on it is like a great big paper hug. Below you can see the sample you can make with the PPK instructions.

As beautiful as the cards from PPK are, I made a few others using the items from this kit and a few other card making basics.

April2020PaperPumpkin_MyWonderfulFamily_AltCard8_LoriSkinner_ThisCraftersDream

This alternative card has a Shaded Spruce cardbase with a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Whisper White layer. To that, I added the Sea Foam Green edge I cut off the cardbase in the PPK. I added the die-cut leaves and butterfly with dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped in Mellon Mambo ink, and I glued it to a 2 1/4″ strip of the Crushed Curry strip from the PPK, then adhered it with dimensionals. Lastly, I added some of the Crushed Curry Pearls to finish it off.

Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers, so I, of course, loved the other example they have pictured in the PPK, and thought I would make my versions. I started out with a whisper White cardbase, then added a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Purple Posy floral dsp layer from the Best Dressed DSP Pack. I stamped the tree foliage in Highland Heather twice onto Purple Posy cardstock, then fussy cut it out. I glued down the stem, leave the glue off of the top right leaf. I adhered to the hydrangea bloom to the DSP using dimensionals and added pearls that I colored using the Light Highland Heather Stampin’ Blend. To add dimension to the stem, I added a dimensional to that one leaf I didn’t glue down, making sure it is layered over the bloom. I cut a 3 1/4″ piece of Purple Posey Scalloped Linen Ribbon and attached it with glue dots, then stamped the sentiment in Highland Heather ink and attached it with dimensionals.

As you can see, this card follows the same process as the above card, but it uses Melon Mambo Ink, Petal Pink cardstock, Petal Pink 6 x 6 DSP, Melon Mambo Stampin’ Blends, and Rococo Rose Gathered Ribbon.

For this little beauty, I have a Purple Posy cardbase, then added a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Purple Posy layer that I stamped the tree foliage all around the edge using Highland Heather ink. I added a 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ strip of Best Dressed DSP, then added the sentiment layer provided in the PPK. To complete the card, I added two butterflies from the PPK, the one in the upper left is popped up with dimensionals, and the other one is glued on. This card turned out so beautiful!

This card is a masculine version of the previous card that I made for my dad’s 81st birthday that was on April 25th, and yes, he loved it. For this version, I used Pretty Peacock cardstock, Pretty Peacock Ink, and Tropical Oasis DSP.

I like how clean and straightforward this version turned out. I started with a Crumb Cake card base and added a Crumb Cake 4 ” x 5 1/4″ layer. I cut off the Shaded Spruce cardbase edge from the PPK and added it to the Cumb Cake layers. I cut a piece of 3 1/4″ x 4″ white leftover card stock from the PPK I cut up and stamped the tree trunk in Early Espresso ink and the tree foliage in Shaded Spruce, I glued this down to the card base layers. I stamped the sentiment using Early Espresso Ink into a strip of 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ white leftover cardstock and popped it up with dimensionals to the Crushed Curry cardstock strip from the PPK. Lastly, I added a bird from the PPK using a dimensional.

This card uses the same cardbase and layers as the last card, except when stamping the foliage, you will stamp two side by side, then add the die-cut tree trunk from the PPK and add a linen bow under the bird.

For this last example, I started out with another Crumb Cake cardbase and added a 4 3/4″ x 4″ piece of Crushed Curry DSP from the Regals 6 x 6 pack. I then added the Soft Sea Foam sentiment layer from the PPK using dimensionals. I added the tree truck with dimensionals as well. I stamped the sentiment onto a 3/8″ x 2″ piece if leftover white cardstock using Early Espresso Ink, then glued it to a 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ piece of the Shaded Spruce cardbase edge and adhered it with dimensionals on each edge so it straddles the tree truck. To finish off this card I added two birds from the PPK.

NO MATTER THE WEATHER

Hello there! I am a bit behind on putting together my Paper Pumpkin Kits (PPK), so I worked on March & April’s kits Sunday while the hubby went on a motorcycle ride. The March 20 No Matter The Weather PPK is my favorite kit Stampin’ UP! has ever put together! You can see why in the pictures below.

NoMatterTheWeather_PPK_Samples_ThisCraftersDream

These three samples are the cards that you create using the instructions included in the Paper Pumpkin Kit. The March kit included the following:

  • Kit contains supplies for 12 cards and envelopes (4 cards of 3 designs)
  • Notecard size: 5″ x 3-1/2″ (12.7 x 8.9 cm)
  • Envelope size: 5-1/8″ x 3-5/8″ (13 x 9.2 cm)
  • No Matter the Weather Photopolymer Stamp Set
  • Spring Splash Photopolymer Stamp Set (Free)
  • Baker’s twine
  • Rain & dew drop embellishments
  • Basic Grey Stampin Spot
  • Dimensionals
  • Adhesive dots

The coordinating colors were: Balmy Blue, Basic Gray, Calypso Coral, Grapefruit Grove, Gray Granite, Pear Pizzazz, Petal Pink, Shaded Spruce, and So Saffron.

That’s a lot of stuff!

NoMatterTheWeather_PPKalt2_ThisCraftersDream

In this alternate card, I cut apart the rain boot die-cut and used the Balmy Blue boots and paired them up with the flower die-cut, and Petal Pink tag, that I stamped a sentiment using Baric Gray ink. In the kit, you get a whole sheet of super cute rain & dew drop embellishments to play with, and boy did I have fun with them on this card!

NoMatterTheWeather_PPKalt1_ThisCraftersDream

For the next three alternate cards, I cut the card fronts off of the card bases included in the PPK and glued a 5″ x 3 3/4″ Balmy Blue Layer to the finished card front, then added that to an A2 Pear Pizzazz card base using dimensionals.  On this alternate card, I stamped raindrops all over, then stamped the water puddle image to the bottom of the card, both stamps I used Balmy Blue Ink.  I used the Pear Pizzazz rain boots that I had cut apart from the die-cut on the previous sample and popped them up with dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment in Balmy Blue Ink on to a piece of 1/2″ x 2 5/8″ Whisper White cardstock, then added the heart stamp image to the right edge using Petal Pink ink. I then tied the bakers twine included in the kit around the sentiment three times and made a bow. I adhered the sentiment with dimensionals.

NoMatterTheWeather_PPKalt3_ThisCraftersDream

For this Alternate card, I glued down the rain boots and hearts, then I stamped the sentiment in Basic Gray ink. I cut the palm frond off the flower die-cut, and added it to the bottom edge of the rain boots using dimensionals, then I finished the card off with another bow made from the bakers twine.

NoMatterTheWeather_PPKalt4_ThisCraftersDream

For this last alternate sample, I stamped cloud images in Whisper White Craft ink, then stamped the sentiment in Basic Gray ink after the white ink was dry. I used dimensionals to pop up the large rain boot & daffodil die-cut, two more of the rain boot die-cut I fussy cut apart for earlier cards, and the cute bunny. I then glued another bow to the bunny’s neck, and I was done!

This was a fun PPK to play around with! I would love to see what alternative projects you came up with if you have this Paper Pumpkin Kit. Feel free to add them in your comments below.
