You know how it is when you are fleshing out an idea for a card, and then you are not super happy with the finished product, so you try a different approach. Well, that is how these two cards came to be.

My original project idea was to create a watercolor background then add the stamp images using the Lovely You Stamp Set and punch bundle. When the card didn’t have the results I wanted, I switched to a Crumb Cake background, and I still just thought the finished product was just alright.

For the first card, I started with Pool Party Ink to use for the watercolor wash and let it dry. I then started to stamp the images, using Poppy Parade for the flowers and Granny Apple Green for the leaves. After I had the images stamped, I felt the watercolor was to light, so I added another layer of color around the already stamped images.

I think that is where my card went wrong. My background needed to be darker, and with the solid images in this stamp sets art work, I had a hard time getting a crisp image. In hindsight, I should have used my Stamparatus so I could reink the stamp image as many times as need to achieve a crisp image. I loved the concept for this project, but not the execution of it, so I tried another approach.

For my next attempt, I used a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock for my background and stamped the images using the same colors. I had the same effect as the previous card, the stamped images were not as crisp as they should have been. I love this card the best, but yet again I feel if I would have used the Stamparatus when stamping the flowers, I would have been happier with my results.

Now I am sure you are asking yourself why did I do a whole blog post about cards I am not happy with? Why didn’t I just make new ones? Yes, I could have remade the projects using my Stamparatus, but I thought sharing with you all that even us demonstrators that create projects all day long miss the mark with our ideas would be a better use of my post today. Crafting is not about being perfect all the time. It is about the journey of creating and finding a place you are happy in! Guess what? I am in my happy place!

Now it’s your turn. Which card do you like?

See you all back here on Thursday.

Happy Stamping!
