Hey everyone, I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. Mine was excellent, we did a little yard work, and I worked on some projects for upcoming posts. I’m not going to lie. I was struggling to get in the fall spirit when it is still hot and summery outside. After a couple of hours and putting on Four Weddings and A Funeral (British movies always have cold weather in them, works every time!), I was able to get my mojo going.  For my blog post today, I created a masculine card using the Beautiful Autumn Bundle from the new 2020 Aug – Dec Mini Catalog.

For this card, I knew I wanted to work with the striped DSP pattern from the Gilded Autumn Specialty Decorative Paper, so  I pulled out the colors that coordinate with it. Those colors are Mint Macaron, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, and Crumb Cake. I started with a Mint Macaron cardbase and added a layer of Early Espresso. To that, I added a 2″ strip of the Crumb Cake DSP that has Early Espresso ink splatters on it. Since I knew I was working with a 1″ piece of the striped DSP, I stamped my top sentiment, then laid the DSP strip down below the stamped sentiment to see where I wanted to stamp the send sentiment. Once I had that decided, I colored my stamp and stamped the image. Sometimes when I use markers to color an image, I will use my Stamparatus so I can recolor the stamp several times if I don’t like the ink coverage.

To achieve the two-tone look in the leaves and acorns, I first stamped the outside line images using Mint Macaron and Cajun Craze for the leaves and Crumb Cake and Early Espresso for the acorn.  Then to get the lighter ink color, I stamped the solid background into the ink, then stamped off the ink twice before stamping the image. This way, I get the look of the two-tone images, but I am still using one color of ink.
