Hello Everyone! I made this for a dear friend of mine who loves Halloween and reading. This book-patterned DSP from the Monster Bash pack is so easy to work with and made a perfect backdrop for my little spooky friend to come out of hiding.
Cardstock Sizes:
4 1/4″ x 11″ Basic Black scored at 5 1/2″ &
1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ for banner
5 1/4″ x 4″ book pattern DSP for card base layer
2″ x 4″ Crushed Curry scrolled pattern DSP for banner & 1″ x 5 1/4″ for inside of card
3 1/2″ x 2″ Terracotta Tile In-Color DSP for lg Ornate Frames Die
3″ x 1 1/4″ Whisper White for sentiment die piece
2″ x 1 1/4″ Whisper White for the mummy
(3) bottles cut from the DSP for the inside of the card
Glue the book-patterned DSP to the card base.
I stamped the mummy into the Whisper White cardstock using black ink. I used the Smoky Slate Blends to highlight the edges of the stamp set to give him some dimension. Then, I fussy-cut him out.
To make the banner, I punched the bottom edge of the 2″ x 4″ Crushed Curry scrolled pattern DSP & 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ Basic Black cardstock. Then, I glued them together, ensuring they aligned at the top edge and centered at the bottom. Die cut the Terracotta Tile DSP and the Whisper White layer. Stamp the sentiment in Crushed Curry ink, then wipe off the Ghoul Friends with a rag and recolor with the black ink. I glued the mummy to the left side of the banner like he is peaking up at the sentiment. Glue down the Terracotta Tile ornate frame, then use dimensional to adhere to the sentiment. Place a black enamel dot at the tip of the S in friends. I used dimensionals to adhere the banner to the card base.
The bow on the sentiment is Linen Thread, which I colored with Terracotta Tile ink. I took a piece of the thread, wound it up, laid it on the ink pad, and gently pressed it into the ink. You can use a piece of plastic wrap to keep your fingers clean. Once I was satisfied with the color, I let it dry, then tied a bow and adhered it with a glue dot.
By coloring the Linen Thread with my ink, I can have any color I need. You can also die the Whisper White Bakers Twine and Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon the same way.
To finish the inside of the card, I placed a 1″ x 5 1/4″ DSP strip, cut out three bottles from the Monster Bash DSP, and glued them down.
I hope you enjoyed this fun card; leave me a note and let me know what you are making your friends.
Thanks for stopping by today, and see you soon.
Happy Stamping!
