I AM ON A MAN CARD ROLL

Hello!  I needed to apologize for my lack of blog posts last week. I ended up throwing my neck out Sunday night and was recuperating in bed for the rest of the week, unfortunately.  I am all back to normal, and now I am trying to play catch up for the missed week.

Now on to the good stuff. I seem to be on a masculine card roll, I pulled out two other stamps set that were floral in theme and just struggled with the all the designs I was coming up with, so I put the florals away and regrouped. I started to play with the Celebration Of Tags stamp set and the matching Trio Of Tags Dies.  If you haven’t noticed this stamp set before, then you missed the fact that you have three groups of images per stamp that match the dies, so that means you stamp/die-cut once, and you get three different tags to use on projects!

CelebrationOfTags_AllCards_MasculineCrads_LoriSkinner_ThisCraftersDream

For all three of the cards, I used the World Of Good Memories & More Card Pack cards and sticker sheets to design them along with some cardstock, ribbon, and adhesive.  All of the projects can be made in a few minutes and would be great to have on hand when needed for that special person.

The “Here’s To You” card starts with an Early Espresso cardbase, Cinnamon Cider ribbon, and the Label Me Lovely Punch. Don’t you love the brass staples on the card, they are scraps left from the sticker I used in the congratulations card. One of my favorite things to do when designing projects is to find ways to use the bits and parts left over.

Now the “Congratulations” card is just stunning! It turned out to be a very regal card that started with the brass foiled globe image from the Memoried & More kit. All I had to do is add another layer of cardstock, a sticker, the tag, and a bit of shredded ribbon.

I think I bought this stamp set for this sentiment, “This Is For You, Dude!”. While we were living in San Antonio, I guess I used the word dude a few too many times, and I would get asked if I was from California all the time. cool  I am in love with the Cinnamon Cider and Basic Black color combo. It is earthy and rugged all at the same time. To get the whispy thread look on the “This Is For You, Dude!” card, I cut a piece of the Cinnamon Cider ribbon up the middle, then tack each half of the ribbon and pull the threads off from the top edge. You will end up with several individual stands and the outside edge of the ribbon. I then gather them together to make a bow or tie around the tag.

CONTINUING WITH THE MASCULINE THEME

Welcome Back! As I told you in my blog post on Tuesday, I continued to play with the Loyal Leaves stamp set and designed two more cards that would be perfect for the guys in your life. And to be honest, these cards are perfect for anyone. Below you can see al three of the cards I created with this stamp set.

Loyal Leaves_Masculine_AllCards_LoriSkinner_ThisCraftersDream

All three of the cards (see June 30th blog post for instruction sheet for the Crumb Cake card – bottom right) can be made in a few minutes and would be great for making multiples to have on hand when needed.

I just love this ginkgo leaf image, and it has beautiful lines! I stamped the image in a random pattern on a cardbase layer, but I started with the center first, so my sentiment would line up when I stamped it.

Loyal Leaves_Masculine2_MissingYou_LoriSkinner_ThisCraftersDream

For this Crushed Curry card, I used three different ink colors to stamp the leaves, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, and Mango Melody. I stamped the leaf using all three colors, making sure the ink colors are balanced on each end. This card could be recreated using Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, and Mossy Meadow as well. The texture on the punches piece behind the sentiment is the leaf stamped in Crushed Curry on Crushed Curry cardstock, then punched out, making sure the vein of the leaf is centered in the punch. If you want the full instruction on how I made these two cards, you can click on the links below.

I HAVE ANOTHER MASCULINE CARD FOR YOU

Hey everyone, I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was pretty good! I have to tell you that I spent half of the day yesterday trying to create my June Paper Pumpkin kit alternate projects for my blog post. After doing the projects per the instructions, I started planning my additional projects and wasn’t happy with ANYTHING I was doing, so I put them away to work on something else. Does this happen to you too? It is frustrating. After clearing off my workspace, I grabbed the Loyal Leaves stamp set and was instantly inspired. This stamp set screams masculinity, so I have another masculine card for you.

This card turned out so beautiful. I love the simplicity of it.

I stamped the center image first using Soft Suede Ink, then stamped the outside two leaves in Crumb Cake ink. Stamp the sentiment in Soft Suede ink, tie a bit of Linen Thread around and tie a knot. This card design would make a lovely gift set for a friend. You could add different sentiments,  bundle them up, wrap some of the creamy ribbons from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo pack around them, and include a tag for a thoughtful gift. I know we all struggle to have enough cards for the men in our lives.

I will work on a couple more projects using this stamp set for you to see on Thursday, and I might even give my Paper Pumpkin alternative cards another go at it.

See you all Thursday.

Happy Stamping!

A BEAUTIFUL CARD FOR A FRIEND

Have you played with any of the products from the Forever Greenery Suite, located on pages 108-110 in the 20-21 Annual Catalog Yet? I have, and the products are beautiful! Just the DSP alone is worth the purchase, then you pair the stamp set and dies, bam you now have easy card making at it’s finest.

ForeverFern_ToAFreind_StampinUp_ThiscraftersDream_LoriSkinner_1

Before I started to design this card, I got out all of the DSP coordination cardstock and die-cut several of each die in every color and put them all in a container. By doing all the extra die-cutting first, I now had more than enough die-cuts to design several cards without pulling out my die-cutting machine every time, and it was a huge time saver.

ForeverFern_ToAFreind_Detail_StampinUp_ThiscraftersDream_LoriSkinner

Once I had all my die-cut pieces, it was super fast to put this card together. Layer the die-cut stems, wrap the Linen Tread around the DSP strip, stamp the sentiment layers, and now you have a card that will make your dear friends smile for sure when they receive this card. You will find the link to the cardstock dimensions and full instructions by using the link below.

Keep in mind that you only have until June 30th to take advantage of the extra $25 Stampin’ Rewards special for any order over $250. That would be $50 in free products you can earn! Start shopping online today to earn your free products.

Happy Stamping!

MASCULINE CARD FOR ANY OCCASION

Whew, it is hard to get back on track after being on vacation for two glorious weeks. Your brain just doesn’t want to fully engage, mine is asking for another Bloody Mary with extra olives right now.  So here it goes. How many of you scramble for a masculine card as you search through for card stash? I do. When I ordered the Tasteful Touches stamp set, I knew it would be perfect for making a masculine card or two.

Tasteful Touches_Feathers_StampinUp_ThisCraftersDream_LoriSkinner_1

I paired the Tasteful Touches stamp set with some wood plank paper from the In Good Taste DSP, Pretty Peacock, and Early Espresso cardstock.

TastefulTouches_Feathers_Detail_StampinUp_ThisCraftersDream_LoriSkinner

To create the two-toned feathers, stamp the feather in the Crumb Cake Ink, then wipe off the ink down the center of the feathers (I used my finger) now ink up the sponge dauber with Pretty Peacock Ink and dab the ink all along the center of the feather gently blending the ink edges together. Huff on the ink, then stamp your image. Stamp the center feather up, then flip the stamp image for the outside two feathers. You can get the full instructions with cardstock dimensions by clicking on the link below. I like to leave the sentiment off of my masculine cards, and then I can add the appropriate one when I know the occasion for the card.

I am looking forward to getting back to a regular posting schedule, so for now, thanks for dropping by today and I will talk with you on Thursday.

Happy Stamping!
