MY BABY GIRL IS HOME!

Hey everyone. Sorry, this post is late, but I am so excited! My baby Ciara is home for Christmas!!!! She and her BF, DJ, drove in from San Antonio, TX, and I have her for two full weeks! It is so nice to have my favorite Christmas Elf to help me finish decorating the house and put up our tree since I haven’t been able to do very much this year.

She has been such a huge help already! Ciara is also making the sugar cookie dough to have our annual cookie decorating extravaganza with all the kids. We always have so much fun and laughs decorating cookies with crazy colors and sprinkles. My hubby just likes to dunk the cookies in the frosting, forget decorating them. (I will post some pictures of the finished cookies later this week)

For the next couple of weeks, I will be focusing on spending as much time with my family while I am lucky enough to have them all in one place, so I will not be posting my weekly color challenge or regular project posts for now. I will be back in the saddle and pick up on my regular blog schedule after the holidays.

CHERISH THE SEASON

Isn’t this a beautiful card? I absolutely love it! The silver bells against that white flocked Plush Poinsettia decorative paper is stunning, right? Unfortunately, when I designed this card, I didn’t know the DSP would be sold out. An alternate idea instead of using the Plush Poinsettia decorative paper, you could heat emboss a holly background using White Embossing powder, and you would have a similar look. That’s what I love about paper crafting. If you don’t have the same items, you can use what you have.

Can you see the holly & berries detail in the silver bells? To achieve that look, I die-cut the bells in silver foil paper first. Then I took a 1/2″ strip to die-cut where the holly leaves are in Garden Green. I then took a 3/4″ strip of Cherry Cobbler cardstock and glued it to the backside of the silver bells and cut the excess paper off by following the edges of the bell carefully with my paper snips. Once the glue dried, I added the Garden Green holly leaves, I die-cut by gluing them down with just a small dab of liquid glue. I love it, and the bells turned out so good!

You may have noticed that I used a silver-edged Cherry Cobbler Ribbon that you can’t find anywhere in the catalog. Well, you were looking for the wrong product. I used the Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon, which is white, and colored it with my Cherry Cobbler Dark Stampin’ Blend. Cool right? This is a little trick I use a lot. By coloring any white ribbon with the Stampin’ Blends color of your choosing, you will always have the ribbon color you want to match your project!

TCDCC6 – TRIMMING THE TOWN

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you had a good weekend! Mine was quiet, so I could get a bit of work done in my craft room trying to finish my Christmas cards.

It is time for the next installment of my This Crafters Dream Color challenge! To play along, complete your project using the colors given in the weekly challenge and post your project to the comments over on my this Crafters Dream Facebook Page using the hashtag #tcdcc6.
